Day 1  - D

After checking into Green Gables Inn, our home for the next three nights, we will meet to kick off our weekend with a bubbly cocktail reception. Next we will travel to a local winery where we’ll enjoy a private dinner while tasting through several of their wines.       

Day 2  - B, L

After a leisurely breakfast at the B&B we will head to the beautiful region of Red Mountain. Our first stop will be Hedges Family Estate. During our tasting and tour we will learn what sets them apart from other wineries, their biodynamic farming and winemaking. After this, we’ll enjoy a leisurely lunch at the winery surrounded by their beautiful estate. After our visit, we’ll drive to Kiona Vineyards where we’ll enjoy a unique tasting experience. We’ll start in the vineyards by tasting their oldest Cabernet Sauvignon grapes and then compare it to one of the newer blocks of the same varietal. Next we’ll head down to the barrels and taste these same blocks as the wine ages from previous harvests. We’ll see the differences in not just vine training, but also barrels, and the differences in the same varietal with just a 50 feet in contrast of location. We’ll also enjoy a traditional tasting and learn about the many varieties of grapes that Kiona grows.  After our first full day of wine the rest of the evening is free for you to enjoy as you like. 

Day 3 -  B, L, D        

Today we’ll enjoy a later start as we head to Amavi Cellars. Here we’ll begin with a vine to wine tour and tasting. We’ll hear the story of Amavi as we tour the vineyards and discuss their process of going from the vine to wine. Next we’ll enjoy tasting a number of their wines, learning the differences between them. Following the tasting we’ll relax and take in the gorgeous scenery when we, weather permitting, enjoy a light picinc lunch at the winery where you may choose to purchase a glass of your favorite Amavi wine to accompany your lunch. Following a relaxing time at Amavi we’ll head to Pepper Bridge, the sister winery to Amavi. Here we’ll participate in a food and wine pairing. This will give us the opportunity to experience how certain foods pair with different Pepper Bridge wines. This is sure to be a fun afternoon. Following the food and wine pairing, the rest of the afternoon will be free for you to explore downtown Walla Walla before meeting back up for dinner as a group. 

Day 4 -  B, L

After breakfast and checking out of our B&B, for those whose flight time allows, we will visit one last winery before it’s time to go home.

There are several airport options for this tour.

Walla Walla is approximately 4.5 hours from Seattle SEA-TAC airport, 1 hour from Tri-Cities airpot in Pasco, WA, 2 hours from Lewiston-Nez Perce County Regional Airport in Lewiston, Idaho, 2 hrs and 15 minutes from Yakima airport, and just under 4 hours from Portland airport. You may choose to rent a car for the weekend or Two Dog Travel will be happy to arrange an airport transfer for you (at a cost). We are also happy to match people up to share a car and split the cost of the rental.
