Tour Discription
Day 1 - Overnight Cairo: Hyatt Regency Cairo West
Welcome to Egypt! Upon arriving at the Cairo airport you’ll be met and assisted by our local representative who will help you through the security area, luggage claim and customs and will escort you to our hotel in Cairo. Nothing is planned as a group for this day since the majority of flights from the USA arrive late in the evening.
Day 2 - Overnight Cairo: Hyatt Regency Cairo West- B, L
After breakfast, we will be picked up by our private Egyptologist for a full-day tour of Giza and its environs. We start with a visit to the Giza Pyramids (located on the outskirts of Cairo) and considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The Great Pyramids are over 4500 years old, and are massive in size, with some of the blocks weighing in excess of two and a half tons each. No trip to Egypt would be complete without a camel ride at the Giza Pyramids so you will have an opportunity for a short camel ride across the sands to the Sphinx. Here we enter the temple of the mysterious Sphinx, an ancient figure shrouded in legend and mystery. After a stop for lunch, it’s time to visit the Saqqara Pyramids, the necropolis of Memphis (home of the step pyramid) and the first limestone structure ever built, exploring its 4350 year old colored tombs. We will explore inside a pyramid and see the ancient hieroglyphics that have been engraved on its walls for thousands of years. It’s sure to be a day full of wonder!
Day 3 - Overnight Luxor, Jolie Ville Resort and Spa - B, L, D
Today after breakfast and check out, we’ll be transferred to the airport for our flight to Luxor. Upon arrival we will stop for lunch before a free afternoon to explore. After sunset, we’ll visit the Luxor Temple (a large ancient temple complex on the east bank of the Nile River, aka ancient Thebes), a spectacular sight when viewed by night. Dinner will be included as a group in the evening.
Day 4 - Overnight Luxor, Jolie Ville Resort and Spa - B, L, D
OPTIONAL: Today may choose to start your day early and enjoy a hot air Balloon in Luxor at sunrise - an amazing way to see Luxor, which is an open-air museum in and of itself. ($130/person) We’ll begin the day with a visit to Dendara Temple (one of the best-preserved temple complexes in Egypt containing the Temple of Hathor). After our visit we’ll enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before free time in the afternoon to explore. We’ll meet up as a group in the evening for dinner.
Day 5 - Overnight Nile Cruise - M/S Nile Premium Cruise - B, L, D
After breakfast and check out, we will will embark on our luxury cruise (our home for the next four nights). We’ll have lunch on board before experiencing the highlight of the tour - the solar eclipse! With the “path of totality” passing directly over Luxor, offering up to 6 minutes and 22 seconds of darkness, we will be in the world’s prime location to experience one of the longest solar ecplipses of the century. In the afternoon we will visit the Karnak temple complex consisting of four parts. After our visit we’ll relax on our cruise and enjoy its amenities. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be incuded on the cruise.
Day 6 - Overnight Nile Cruise - M/S Nile Premium Cruise - B, L, D
Today we continue with our private Egyptologist and enjoy a visit to the West Bank of Luxor, including the Valley of the Kings, the tombs of King Tutankhamun and Ramses VI, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut (El-Deir El-Bahari) and the Colossi of Memnon. After our visit we sail to Edfu via the Esna lock, have a meal on board, afternoon tea and relax before dinner. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be incuded on thee cruise. Day 7 - Overnight Nile Cruise - M/S Nile Premium Cruise - B, L, D
Today our morning is spent on a visit to the Horus Temple in Edfu (the best-preserved Ptolemaic temple dedicated to the falcon-headed god Horus), it was built between 237 and 57 BCE, and features a massive pylon, hypostyle hall, and an inner sanctuary. After lunch and afternoon tea onboard while sailing to Kom Ombo, we’ll next visit the temple shared by two Gods, Sobek and Haeroris. After, we sail to Aswan, enjoy dinner on board followed by a Galabia Party. We’ll don the traditional dress of Egypt and enjoy a fun evening of music. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be incuded on the cruise.
Day 8 - Overnight Nile Cruise - M/S Nile Premium Cruise - B, L, D
Today is a longer day as we drive to the amazing Abu Simbel Temples (two temples carved out of the mountainside during the rein of Pharaoh Ramesses II), a lasting monuent to himself and his queen Nefertari. We’ll make a stop for lunch during our visit, and in the evening we’ll enjoy a peaceful ride on a traditional Felucca (a traditional Egyptian boat) as we float around Kitchener Island to enjoy the sunset. We’ll enjoy dinner as a group to celebrate the last night of our cruise.
Day 9 - Overnight Cairo - Sheraton Cairo Hotel - B
After breakfast we disembark the boat and enjoy a visit to the High Dam of Aswan and the Temple of Philae (dedicated to the goddess Isis, the wife of Osiris and mother of Horus). We then transfer to the Aswan airport for our flight back to Cairo.
Day 10 - Overnight Cairo - Sheraton Cairo Hotel - B L
After Breakfast we visit the Grand Egyptian Museum (the largest museum in the world celebrating one single civilization). You will stand face-to-face with the Golden Mask of the boy King Tutankhamun and be dazzled with the breadth of treasures and artifacts this museum holds. Next is a visit to the Alabaster Mosque of Mohamed
Ali (not the boxer!). Situated on the summit of a centuries-old citadel, this is a fine example of an Ottoman-era mosque. We’ll end our tour with lunch at one of the finest restaurants in Cairo. Here we toast to the memories made, the sites visited and all our new friends. NOTE: Since a majority of the flights back to the US
leave very early in the morning, lunch will serve as our farewell meal so that people can get to bed early and enjoy a good night’s rest before their long flight back home.
Day 11 - B
All good things must come to an end, including our time in Egypt. You will be privately transferred to the Cairo airport in time to catch your flight back to the US, rejoining the real world.
