Day 1 - Overnight San Ignacio Resort - D
Welcome to Belize! Upon arrival at Belize City International Airport you will be transferred to our accommodations in San Ignacio. After checking into our rooms, the evening will be spent enjoying the beautiful surroundings of the resort before meeting up for our welcome dinner.

Day 2 - Overnight San Ignacio Resort - B, L
After breakfast we’ll head out for our first adventure in the jungle. We’ll drive through the Mountain Pine Ridge, a beautiful area with flowing rivers and hidden limestone caves before arriving at the ancient Mayan site of Caracol. Caracol was a huge population center at its peak, with over 150,000 inhabitants and 30,000 structures, including an astronomical observatory. We’ll climb the temple pyramid structure of Caana (Sky Temple), the highest man-made building in Belize to this day. At nearly 135 feet above the courtyards below, we’ll get impressive panoramic views of Belize and neighboring Guatemala. After touring the ruins, we’ll stop for a picnic lunch before heading to the Rio On Pools, a series of natural swimming holes, where we’ll cool down and relax in the clear water. We will also visit the Rio Frio Cave, which has the largest entrance of any cave in Belize. After our exciting day, the rest of the evening is free to spend as you’d like.

Day 3 - Overnight San Ignacio Resort - B, L, D
After breakfast we’ll be off for another adventure as we make our way to the famous archaeological site of Actun Tunichil Muknal, or the “Cave of the Stone Sepulchre,” recently deemed the #1 Sacred Cave destination in the world by National Geographic. The cave is not only beautiful geologically, but also historically, as it is a natural museum of ancient Mayan artifacts, as well as a sacred burial place. To reach this amazing site we’ll drive through the Tapir Mountain Nature Reserve then take an easy 45 minute walk through the jungle. To access the cave, we’ll swim across a small spring-fed pool with the assistance of a rope and wade into knee-high water. This is sure to be an experience you’ll remember for a lifetime. After exploring the cave for a few hours we’ll walk back to our vehicles where we’ll eat our picnic lunch. NOTE: Does this sound a bit too adventurous for you? Feel free to talk to us, we’ve experienced this before and can answer any questions you may have. After another fun-filled day, we’ll meet up in the evening for dinner at the resort.
Day 4 - Overnight San Ignacio Resort - B, D
Today it’s all about you and your choice. Do you want to go horseback riding? Cave tubing? Visit the botanical gardens? Go on a hike or maybe zip lining? Visit the famous Xunatunich Mayan site? Enjoy a chocolate tour or perhaps just relax at the resort? There are so many things to do, and we don’t want our travelers to miss out on the one thing that interests them the most. Two Dog Travel will give you some options and you can decide. (Excursion is not included in tour price.) After you spend the day as you choose, we’ll meet up in the late afternoon to try our hand at Belizean cooking. We’ll learn about traditional Belizean cuisine, taste some local wine and rum, then enjoy a hands-on cooking class. After we’re done working, it’s time to sit down and enjoy our creations.
Day 5 - Overnight Maya Beach Resort - B, D
Today we leave the jungle and head for the beach. After breakfast and checking out, we’ll transfer to the beach area of Placencia. After checking into our beachfront casitas we’ll enjoy the resort amenities and relax on the beach. In the evening we’ll meet back up for dinner as a group. The resort restaurant, The Bistro, has been said to be one of the best restaurants in Placencia so we’re sure to enjoy our meals here.
Day 6 - Overnight Maya Beach Resort - B, L
After breakfast we’ll enjoy a day on the water as we board our private catamaran cruise and visit some of the nearby cayes. We’ll stop to snorkel and swim, soak up some sun and have a feast of a lunch onboard. After our day at sea, you’ll have the rest of the evening free to enjoy as you choose.
Day 7 - Overnight Maya Beach Resort - B
Today is again all about you. Perhaps you want to sleep in, relax on the beach, enjoy a massage or explore Placencia town. You could even go snorkeling, kayaking or standup paddle boarding right off the beach. The resort has free kayaks, snorkeling sets, SUPs and bicycles to use. You’re free to spend the day as you’d like. There are also numerous options for day tours. Two Dog Travel can give you some ideas and will be happy to book them for you.

Day 8 - Overnight Maya Beach Resort - B, L
Today after breakfast we’ll head to the river. We’ll spend the morning floating the Monkey River where along the bank is a sub-tropical rain forest home to howler monkeys, jaguar, deer, toucan and many more amazing creatures. We’ll call to the monkeys and they will surely call back with their amazing howl. After our time on the river, we’ll stop at a local village for lunch. Next we’ll spend a bit more time on the water manatee watching. Weighing around 122 pounds and often described as “sea cows,” manatees are some of the most interesting and unusual mammals in the world. After our day exploring, the rest of the day will be free to spend as you like.
Day 9 - Overnight Maya Beach Resort - B, D
Today is another day to spend as you’d like. In our experience, our clients prefer to have some extra beach time to enjoy the resort, sleep in, laze on the beach or take advantage of the free kayaks, etc, offered by the resort. Do you want to do another day tour? Let us know and we’ll be happy to set it up for you for an additional fee. For those interested, you can head into the town of Placencia as a group for some shopping and exploring. After spending the day as you please, we’ll meet back up for dinner and enjoy our last evening in Belize.
Day 10 - B
Unfortunately, it’s time to say good bye to beautiful Belize. After breakfast we’ll be transferred back to Belize City International Airport as a group.
