Day 1
Day 1 - Overnight at Hotel Rovere or similar, Rome - D
Welcome to Italy! Upon arrival at the Rome airport you’ll be by your driver and transferred to our Rome hotel. After checking in you may want to explore a bit on your own before we meet up as a group. We will spend the afternoon enjoying some of the sites of Rome as we visit the Colosseum and the Roman Forum with a private guide. After our tour we’ll stop for dinner at a local restaurant for our Welcome Dinner and toast to our adventures ahead.
Day 2 - Overnight at Hotel Rovere or similar, Rome - B, D
After breakfast, we’ll visit Vatican City. Here we’ll tour the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica with a professional guide. After our tour, you’ll have the afternoon free to spend as you’d like. Later in the afternoon we’ll meet back to enjoy a food tour. Here we’ll learn about the street food of Italy, how the locals eat and enjoy learning about life in Rome.
Day 3 - Overnight at Le Cerque, Umbria - B, D
Today we’ll be transferred by private bus to our accommodations in Umbria. We’ll make a stop in the hilltop town of Orvieto where we will start by going underground. We’ll visit a unique subterranean network of grottoes, galleries, shelters, quarries, and cellars. After seeing the underside of Orvieto, you’ll have free time to wander Orvieto, its shops, sites and restaurants. Perhaps you’ll choose to walk a section of the medieval wall, climb the Torre del Moro, a 13th-century clock tower or visit the famous cathedral. You’ll be supplied with an Orvieto card that will allow you free entrance to many of the sites in town. You’ll have time to grab lunch before we leave Orvieto and transfer to our Umbrian accommodations, a renovated farmhouse/agriturismo. You’ll have free time to enjoy the pool and surroundings before enjoying dinner cooked for us by our own private chef.
Day 4 - Overnight at Le Cerque, Umbria - B, L (light lunch)
Today it’s time to enjoy the scenery as we spend some time biking through the countryside. We'll start in the hilltop town of Bettona where we will begin a scenic e-bike ride through area before returning to the village. Next we'll enjoy a walking tour of the village and end with a wine tasting with some local products. Today will be a special day as we experience Umbria from a different perspective. Upon arrival back at our hotel, the evening will be free to do as you like.
Day 5 - Overnight at Le Cerque, Umbria - B, D
After a busy start to your vacation, it’s time to slow down and enjoy our accommodations. In the afternoon we’ll visit the famous ceramics town of Deruta. Here we'll visit one of the artisan's workshops and enjoy a ceramics painting class. In the evening, a pizza maker will come to our accommodations and make pizzas in the outdoor wood oven.
Day 6 - Overnight at Le Cerque, Umbria - B, L, D
Today we’ll visit the hilltop town of Assisi where we’ll enjoy a walking tour with a local guide. We’ll learn about St Francis who was born and raised in this beautiful town, visit the basilica and a few more interesting sites of Assisi. After our tour we’ll drive up to the Sanctuary of Saint Francis and explore this peaceful setting. We’ll hike among some of the paths of Mount Sabasio and stop along the way for a picnic lunch. In the evening we’ll enjoy a cooking class at our accommodations. After our class is finished, we’ll sit down and enjoy dinner as a group and taste our creations.
Day 7 - Overnight at Hotel Residence Amalfi, Amalfi - B
Today we leave Umbria and take the train to Naples where we’ll meet our drive to transfer to Amalfi. Along the way we’ll stop at Pompeii for a private tour of the archaeological site with a local expert. After your tour, there will be time to grab lunch before continuing on to our hotel. After checking into the hotel, you’ll have the rest of the day free to explore Amalfi on your own.
Day 8 - Overnight Hotel Residence Amalfi, Amalfi - B
After breakfast, we’ll board a local ferry and enjoy the journey to the island of Capri. Upon arrival, a private boat will be waiting to take the group on a two-hour cruise around the island. After the cruise you can take the stairs or the funicular up to Capri town. You’ll have the afternoon to enjoy Capri as you prefer. You may choose to do a coastal walk or maybe go up to Anacapri and visit the beautiful Villa San Michele or Chiesa San Michele with its amazing tile floor. There are many ways to spend your day on this beautiful island. In the evening we’ll take the ferry back to Amalfi where you’ll have the evening free to roam the town.
Day 9 - Overnight at Hotel Residence Amalfi, Amalfi - B, L
Today we’ll spend the day hiking the amazing Path of the Gods. This must-do hike offers spectacular views along the way. We’ll enjoy the hike with a local guide who will explain to us about the history of the path and the area. We’ll stop along the route at a local shepherd’s hut where we’ll enjoy lunch and learn about his life. The hike will end in Positano, a chic seaside resort town, where you will have time to visit the town and perhaps take a swim. Later we’ll meet back up as a group and take the ferry back to Amalfi.
Day 10 - Overnight at Hotel Residence Amalfi, Amalfi - B, D
Today we’ll take the bus up to the beautiful town of Ravello, high up the cliffs and where some say is the most beautiful town in Italy. We’ll start with a visit to visit the famous Cimbrone Villa and Gardens and its famous Terrazza dell’Infinito. After our visit, you’ll have time to explore Ravello on your own, grab lunch and perhaps visit Villa Rufolo or spend some time shopping in the many boutiques. You may return to Amalfi when you choose, just be sure to be back in time to meet the group where we’ll enjoy our Farewell Dinner at a local restaurant. We’ll toast to our new friends and special memories made.
Day 11 - B
Unfortunately, it’s time to leave this beautiful country. After breakfast, you will be transferred to the Naples airport according to your flight schedule.
