NOTE: The tour begins at Naples International Airport and ends in Rome. You should fly into Naples and out of Rome.
Day 1 - Overnight at Villa Maria Luigia, Amalfi - D
Welcome to Italy! Upon arrival at the Naples airport you’ll be transferred to the Amalfi Coast, our home for the next four days. In the evening we’ll enjoy a welcome dinner overlooking the incredible views of the Amalfi coast.
Day 2 - Overnight at Villa Maria Luigia, Amalfi - B
After breakfast, we'll board a local ferry and enjoy the journey to the island of Capri. Upon arrival, a private boat will be waiting to take the group on a two-hour cruise around the island. After the cruise you can take the stairs or the funicular up to Capri town. You’ll have the afternoon to enjoy Capri as you prefer. You may choose to do a coastal walk or maybe go up to Anacapri and visit the beautiful Villa San Michele or Chiesa San Michele with its amazing tile floor. There are many ways to spend your day on this beautiful island. In the evening we’ll take the ferry back to Amalfi where you’ll have the evening free to roam the town.
Day 3 - Overnight at Villa Maria Luigia, Amalfi - B, L
Today we’ll take the Hop On Hop Off bus up to the beautiful town of Ravello, high up the cliffs and some say is the most beautiful town in Italy. We’ll start with a visit to visit the famous Cimbrone Villa and Gardens with its famous Terrazza dell’Infinito. You’ll then have free time to explore Ravello on your own when you might choose to visit Villa Rufolo or spend some time shopping in the many boutiques. We’ll then meet back up for lunch as a group. You can return to Amalfi when you choose and the rest of the evening will be free to enjoy as you’d like.
Day 4 - Overnight at Villa Maria Luigia, Amalfi - B
Today you’ll spend the day hiking the amazing Path of the Gods. This must-do hike offers spectacular views along the way. We'll enjoy the hike with a local guide who will explain to us about the history of the path and the area. The hike will end in Positano, a chic seaside resort town, where you will have time to enjoy visiting the town and perhaps take a swim. We’ll meet back up as a group and take the ferry back to Amalfi.
Day 5 - Overnight at Le Cerque, Umbria - B, D
Today we’ll be transferred by private bus to our accommodations in Umbria. Along the way you’ll stop at Pompeii for a private tour of the archaeological site with a local expert. After your tour, there will be time to grab lunch before continuing on to Umbria. After checking into our accommodations, a renovated farmhouse/agriturismo on 22 hectares, you’ll have free time to enjoy the pool and surroundings before enjoying dinner cooked for us by our own private chef.
Day 6 - Overnight at Le Cerque, Umbria - B, L
Today you’ll spend the morning biking through the countryside. We’ll stop along the way to see a few special sites and hilltop villages before arriving at a winery. Here we’ll visit their vineyard, taste their wines and enjoy lunch with the owners. Today will be a special day as we experience Umbria from a different perspective. Upon arrival back at our hotel, the evening will be free to do as you like.
Day 7 - Overnight at Le Cerque, Umbria - B, D
After a busy start to your vacation, it's time to slow down and enjoy our accommodations. In the afternoon we’ll be transferred to the hilltop town of Orvieto where we will start by going underground. We’ll visit a unique subterranean network of grottoes, galleries, shelters, quarries, and cellars. After seeing the underside of Orvieto, you’ll have free time to wander this Orvieto, its shops, sites and restaurants. Perhaps you’ll choose to walk a section of the medieval wall, climb the Torre del Moro, a 13th-century clock tower or visit the famous cathedral. You'll be supplied with an Orvieto card that will allow you free entrance to many of the sites in town. In the evening we’ll meet back up for dinner at a local restaurant before being transferred back to our accommodations.
Day 8 - Overnight at Le Cerque, Umbria - B, L, D
Today we’ll visit the hilltop town of Assisi where we’ll enjoy a walking tour with a local guide. We’ll learn about St Francis who was born and raised in this beautiful town, visit the basilica and a few more interesting sites of Assisi. After our tour we’ll drive up to the Sanctuary of Saint Francis and explore this peaceful setting. We'll walk among some of the paths of Mount Sabasio and stop along the way for a picnic lunch. In the evening we’ll enjoy a cooking class at our accommodations. After our class is finished, we’ll sit down and enjoy dinner as a group and taste our creations.
Day 9 - Overnight at Opera Suites, Rome - B, D
Today we leave Umbria and transfer by private bus to Rome. After checking into the hotel, we’ll enjoy some time exploring Rome and some of its highlights. We’ll stop at the Spanish Steps and have some free time to explore the area and grab lunch. We’ll then take the metro to the Vatican and enjoy an early dinner before touring the Vatican, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica with a professional guide.
Day 10 - Overnight at Opera Suites, Rome - B, D
Today we’ll begin with one of the mainstays of an Italian vacation .... gelato! We'll visit the famous gelato factory and hear the story of Palazzo del Freddo of Giovanni Fassi company. Next we'll enter the lab where the gelato masters will explain gelato and semifreddi’s production and the differences between artisanal Italian gelato and industrial products. Of course, we'll have the chance to taste some of their products before our visit is complete. After our visit, you'll have free time to do some shopping and stop for lunch. In the afternoon we’ll visit the famous Colosseum and Ancient Forum. The evening will be spent enjoying a last Italian dinner before returning to the hotel to pack for your morning flight.
Day 11 - B
Unfortunately, it’s time to leave this beautiful country. After breakfast, you will be transferred to the Rome airport according to your flight schedule.
